Judge orders associations to alter websites A federal judge told several associations Thursday they must correct what he viewed as misleading information on websites intended to drum up opposition to a proposed settlement involving credit card swipe fees. At issue are sites such as MerchantsObject.com, run by NACS-The Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing with the support of groups such as Retail Industry Leaders Association and National Restaurant Association. The sites urge retailers to reject a proposed $7.2 billion settlement in a lawsuit concerning whether Visa, MasterCard and large banks conspired to fix credit card swipe fees.
